‘Every minute of everyday is a learning opportunity’
A lovely hard working FS leader said this to me the other day and I suddenly realised it’s the quote that sums up my pedagogy!
Have it in mind as this month I ask you to review your daily timetable.
I have been working within a few new settings this month and found that as we tweaked the timetable to meet this quote, people gasped at the learning that we can pack into a child’s day or session.

My pedagogy builds on a strict timetable, it works so well for staff and children because for every minute of everyday everyone knows where they should be! Children flow between each section of the day and learning potential is maximised by the time allocated.
Stephen Covey’s 8 habits of highly effective people is a great favourite of mine and in that he recommends timetabling your day, time for work, family, sharpening the saw (relaxation), fitness …
With a strict timetable in place and team determined to stick to it, all other areas – like outdoor classroom fall into place.
Email me if you think I could tweak yours!
