February 2012 - ideas
The answer lies on the ocean waves!

It’s February!

My challenge is to you this Spring term 2.

Are you delivering something exciting?

Really?
  • Traditional tales?
  • Transport?
  • People who help us?

Exciting? Really, or are you following a 2 year rolling program written by Valerie in 1987?!!

What excites you?

We have just delivered ‘space’, where will you go in your rocket? My different settings built WOW rocket on the first day back and the children did not want to get out of it! I spent a day in outer space with children on the number planet, physical space adventure, we touched slim, built everything we needed out of egg boxes and tin foil and …

We divided hand in hand down a black hole! I discovered a new story that produced my best planning yet ‘the blackest hole in outer space’.

I was inspired by children outdoors riding on a spaceship, we landed on the moon and found a moon pod (willow structure). We found yellow aliens who spoke a different language that we had to learn to speak and if they shook your hand you turned yellow as well!

The writing has developed and language in talk is clearer. We are all using CLIC - Little Big Maths which is impacting in a way I never believed my maths teaching would.

In all this standard rocketing, in all this planet progress we, the children and the teams working alongside them, are adding excitement to learning.

Next half term? Pirates of course, nothing beats Pirates for me. This will link to Summer 1 where we will have ‘extraordinary adventures’ and who knows what summer 2 will bring perhaps something new from my new book I am writing ‘Wriggle me into a Writer’?

Come - let's dive into something exciting?

If you have an exciting idea email me and if it’s really exciting … REALLY EXCITING! You may win a prize….
